Professional Educator Certificate requires 6 college credits OR 120 inservice points (or combination) per 5-year cycle. 1 inservice point = 1 contact hour of training. Renewal-formula equivalence: 20 inservice points = 1 semester hour of college credit. Subject-area sub-requirements (all count toward the 120-point total): (a) 2 college credits / 40 inservice points in science-of-reading evidence-based instruction for any certificate including K-6 reading (validity dates July 1, 2020+); (b) 1 college credit / 20 inservice points in teaching students with disabilities for renewal of any professional certificate; (c) ESOL strategies may apply toward any specialization area.

School counselors hold a Florida Professional Educator Certificate (Guidance and Counseling coverage) and renew under the same FS 1012.585 / 6-credits-or-120-inservice-points / 5-year cycle as teachers. The students-with-disabilities sub-requirement applies; the science-of-reading and ESOL add-ons apply only when the coverage area is in scope.

Administrators hold a Professional Educator Certificate in Educational Leadership and renew under the same 120-point / 5-year cycle. Additional sub-requirement (within the 120): for Educational Leadership Level I or Level II programs with validity dates July 1, 2025+, at least 1 college credit / 20 inservice points must be in Florida's educational leadership standards.
