Mississippi Teacher PD Requirements (2026)

100 hours every 5 years for teachers

Source

Primary source: Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) Office of Educator Licensure. MS uses a CEU framework where 1 CEU = 10 contact hours — different from most states where 1 CEU = 1 contact hour. This means the "10 CEUs" requirement maps to 100 actual clock hours — a substantial requirement. The flexibility (CEUs OR semester hours OR combination) is teacher-friendly.

Mississippi Class A Standard License (Bachelor's) renews every 5 years. Required: EITHER 6 semester credits in content/job-related area, OR 10 CEUs in content/job-related area, OR a combination (3 sem hours + 5 CEUs). Conversion: 1 CEU = 10 contact hours; so 10 CEUs = 100 contact hours, or 6 sem credits = 90 contact hour equivalent. 100 hours shown to represent the CEU pathway (the more common non-coursework path for renewing teachers). Higher class licenses (Class AA, AAA, AAAA) follow similar 10 CEU framework but with different combination rules. National Board completion also satisfies renewal.
