Teachers
New Mexico Level 2 and Level 3-A teaching licenses are valid for 9 years (unusually long — longest in the nation). NM does NOT use a fixed CE hour count for renewal. Instead: (a) Teachers maintain a Professional Development Plan (PDP) per state statute, with district-provided PD and goals reviewed annually. (b) Renewal is submitted via the NMPED Online Licensure Portal with a Superintendent's Recommendation for Continuing Licensure on official school letterhead — i.e. employment verification, not hour-counting. Teachers between districts or out-of-state may need to demonstrate equivalent PD activity. Level 1 license (initial, 5-year, non-renewable) advances to Level 2 via dossier — not a renewal pathway.
