Nevada Teacher PD Requirements (2026)

90 hours every 5 years for teachers

Source

Primary source: Nevada Department of Education Educator Licensure. The Sept 16, 2024 NDE rule change is recent and worth flagging — pre-2024 licenses operate on a per-year (15 hrs/yr) requirement, post-2024 licenses on a cumulative cycle requirement. Number shown reflects post-2024 standard license. Documentation via OPAL portal.

Nevada Standard Teaching License is valid for 5 years; Professional License is valid for 6-10 years (with master's/advanced degree or NBPTS certification). Per NDE rule effective Sept 16, 2024: 90 clock hours of continuing education, 6 semester credits, or any combination = 90 clock hours, earnable at any time during the licensure period. Licenses issued BEFORE Sept 16, 2024 are still subject to the older 15-hours-per-year-of-license requirement. NBPTS certification completion counts for 6 credits. Hours documented and uploaded to the educator's OPAL account. PD hours must be earned from NDE-approved providers, accredited universities, state/national conferences, NDE in-service, or approved professional organizations.
